The GrowDMD project won first prize in the poster competition at the Transition to Adulthood Pop-Up event in Vancouver in December 2023. Anne Fournier and Rocio Gutierrez represented the international research team at the Child Health Hub event, held at the Hyatt Regency on December 2-3, 2023.

Recognition for International Collaboration

Their winning poster showcased GrowDMD’s innovative approach to understanding healthcare transition challenges for young people with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The research, spanning Germany, Italy, and Canada, places patients and families at the center of the study, working alongside researchers to identify real-world solutions for the complex move from pediatric to adult care.

The recognition at this premier transition research event validates GrowDMD’s patient-centered methodology and highlights the importance of international collaboration in addressing healthcare challenges that cross borders. This first-place finish builds momentum for the project’s ongoing mission to develop evidence-based recommendations for improving transition care for young people with DMD worldwide.
