GrowDMD Meeting in Heidelberg: Next Steps for International Collaboration on Transition in DMD

On June 25, 2025, all GrowDMD research partners met in Heidelberg to share interim findings and plan the next phases of collaboration.

The meeting focused on qualitative and quantitative data from Canada, Italy, and Germany concerning the healthcare transition of young people with DMD. In working groups, participants discussed key results, developed publication strategies, and selected target journals. The discussions highlighted that while international comparisons offer valuable insights, they must be grounded in country-specific healthcare contexts.

The team also reflected on collaboration with patient organizations and explored how patient perspectives can be further integrated into research, knowledge translation, and policy work. Ideas for follow-up projects and future funding opportunities were also collected.
